Over due update
There have been relatively few updates to this blog over the past few weeks, but we have been updating the content, even though some of the pictures may be out of date.
The WDK area changes way too fast. Every couple of weeks some old shops close and new shops open. Its an incrediblely exciting area with new students coming in every semester and summer.
A big welcome to the students who have just arrived at WDK!

Times are bad
Well, the times aren't exactly bad, but for a while every store on atthewu.com was open 24 hours. Sorry. What happened was on of the functions to look up shop times didn't get updated with a database change. Its fixed now !

Moving up
Glad to say that atthewu.com is moving up onto the first page of search results from Google and Baidu for wudaokou searches! Gives us motivation to keep on improving the site and making it more useful for everyone.
The past two weeks we've been busy at our real jobs, so not many updates, but we'll be getting back to atthewu.com stuff soon. Keep the suggestions and comments coming!

Missing: Gyms
Where are they? Where do I go to work off all the 'Yang Rou Chuan' and beer?? A slight oversight by us. We'll have them up shortly. If you are dying to know:
There are two large ones in the area. One is 'nirvana yoga'. Its
around to the back of the lotus center. The entrance is the same as
'Tafi', the Italian restaurant.
The other gym is about 10-15mins walk from McDonalds. Just go south on
the main road next to Macdonald's (Zhong Guan Cun Dong Lu, 中关村东路,
you can find this road labeled on the maps on the website.)
There is also a small gym inside BLCU. It's in the low building to the
north of the basketball courts.

Oops.
We didn't notice for a while, but a friendly user pointed out to us that logging into the discussion forum was not working correctly. It was a mistake on our part. Sorry to those affected. Our website is in UTF-8 format to display Chinese, so all of our files should be saved in UTF-8 format. The mistake was that one of our files affecting the login was not saved correctly.
Why are there a million standards for displaying chinese? There is Big5, GB2312, GBK, GB18030, HZ, ISO-2022-CN, UTF-8. Just stick with UTF!! Is it that difficult??
Take care. Lets hope the weather warms up enough by the 15th of March so when the Chinese Government decides that there is no more need for heating we aren't left in the cold.

Beep Beep
So one of the guys here decided the place was a bit to quiet, so he setup one of our computers to beep whenever we get a hit on our webpage, and its kinda getting annoying (which is both a good and bad thing).
Now that we have started to get the word out about the website, the main thing we need is feedback. We are here to make the website better and more useful for the users, and only the users can tell us what they need.

New release
We have been working pretty hard on making improvements here and there to the site. The newest thing is our product explorer. Try it. Lets you see what some of the shops at the Wu are selling. We also have a couple more shops and more pictures. Its cold outside, and we know it. Or at least my camera totting right hand know it. Stay warm!
